Career
In 2012, Rai became a professional. He participated on the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2014 and 2015. After a playoff, he won the 2015 Glenfarclas Open, placed fifth in the Order of Merit, and received a promotion to the Challenge Tour for 2016.
Rai almost missed out on a spot on the European Tour, placing 18th in the 2016 Challenge Tour Order of Merit. His greatest result was a joint runner-up in the Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge, one stroke behind Alexander Björk, the winner.
Rai had three victories on the Challenge Tour in 2017. He won the Barclays Kenya Open in March by a margin of three strokes. Fitzpatrick bogeyed the 17th hole, cutting Rai’s advantage to one shot after 16 holes. Despite a bogey at the final hole, Rai prevailed by one stroke.
