Career
He pitched for Macon, Georgia’s First Presbyterian Day School during his high school years. Throughout his time in high school, he pitched three no-hitters.[Reference required] At first, he committed to play for the Georgia Bulldogs in collegiate baseball. In the 18th round (516th overall) of the 1993 Major League Baseball draft, Rocker was chosen by the Atlanta Braves.
Rocker was promoted to the major leagues by the Braves in 1998. He pitched 38 innings and was 1–3 with a 2.13 ERA in his debut major league season. After closer Kerry Ligtenberg of Atlanta was placed on the injured list due to an injury the following season, Rocker took over as closer and finished 4–5 with 38 saves and a 2.49 ERA. Despite having 24 saves and a 2.89 ERA in 2000, Rocker was demoted for intimidating a reporter in June of that year.

Because of his bad behavior, Rocker began to be severely taunted by the supporters of the rival teams, and his pitching performance started to suffer. On June 22, 2001, Rocker was sold to the Cleveland Indians for right-handed relievers Steve Karsay and Steve Reed, cash, and minor-league infielder Troy Cameron (Atlanta’s 1997 first-round draft pick). He had a 3.45 ERA, four saves, and a 3–7 record in Cleveland that season. Against the Seattle Mariners, Rocker pitched in the ALDS.
He was traded by the Indians to the Texas Rangers for pitcher David Elder at the end of the season. He declined to be designated for the minor leagues in Texas. He was discharged in 2002 after struggling once more at 2–3 with a 6.66 ERA.
To recuperate from surgery on his left shoulder, he missed the 2004 season. He joined the independent Atlantic League’s Long Island Ducks in 2005. In April of 2005, he instructed the people of New York to “bury the hatchet.” In 23 games, he went 0–2 with a 6.50 ERA before being dismissed on June 27, 2005.
