Mensah was selected as the Green Wave’s starting quarterback for the 2024 campaign after redshirting his first year at Tulane in 2023. He defeated former Oregon transfer Ty Thompson and Kai Horton in fall camp. His career-high 342 passing yards and two touchdowns in a 34–27 loss to No. 17 Kansas State came after he made an instant impression in his first collegiate start against Southeastern Louisiana, throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns in a 52–0 triumph.
Mensah finished the 2024 season with 189 completions on 287 attempts (65.9 percent) for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also added 132 rushing yards and a touchdown. Mensah started all 13 games. In three games, he threw for 300 yards or more, and in eight games, he had multiple touchdown passes.
