Titmus won a bronze medal in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:09.81, 2.29 seconds behind gold medallist Li Bingjie of China, and a silver medal in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay, splitting a 2:00.13 for the lead-off leg of the relay to contribute to the final time of 8:05.43 at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, held in August in Hawaii, United States.
Titmus placed 17th in the women’s 200-meter freestyle competition at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships.
Titmus won three gold medals in the 400-meter freestyle, 800-meter freestyle, and 4 x 200-meter freestyle relay at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In the 200-meter freestyle, she also took home a silver medal.
With a time of 3:53.92, Titmus broke the record set by Wang Jianjiahe two months prior by 0.05 seconds and took home the gold medal in the women’s short course 400-meter freestyle category of the 2018 FINA World Swimming Championships on December 14, 2018. At this meet, she took home two bronze medals in relay events and another gold in the 200-meter freestyle.
Titmus was chosen to compete in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, as one of 27 swimmers representing Australia. She set the Oceania record and won the gold medal in the final of the women’s 400-meter freestyle after placing second in her heat. Her time of 3:58.76 was a whole second faster than
