Career
Selwood, a native of Bendigo, Victoria, played under-18 football with the Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup.
Selwood was selected as the third overall choice (number 53) by the West Coast Eagles in the 2002 AFL Draft. Selwood participated in two games during his first season in 2003, including the elimination final loss to Adelaide. Before osteitis pubis ended his 2004 season, he participated in three games.
Selwood got into a fight with Des Headland of Fremantle on April 14, 2007. On April 18, both made an appearance before the AFL Tribunal. Selwood was accused of using derogatory language against Headland, while Headland was charged with two counts of striking Selwood and one count of wrestling with him.

Selwood was found not guilty of using derogatory remarks by the tribunal. It decided not to punish Headland despite finding him guilty of two of the three charges.
Selwood was assigned to the WAFL in July 2012 after missing two games due to a bad arm infection. This was Selwood’s first appearance for the East Perth Football Club in five years.
After 11 seasons and 187 games for the Eagles, Selwood announced his retirement at the end of the 2013 AFL season. In the 2013 WAFL Grand Final, he played for East Perth and finished with 32 touches and 10 clearances in a 49-point defeat to West Perth.
