Career
Before receiving an associate’s degree in social science, Hodgson played collegiate ball at Jamestown Community College, an NJCAA Region III program, where he captained the team for two seasons. Hodgson continued his studies at Fredonia State, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sports management.
Hodgson began his coaching career as a student assistant at Fredonia State. During the summers, he worked at prominent basketball camps at Duke, Maryland, West Virginia, Syracuse, and Michigan State.
Hodgson coached in the NJCAA at his alma mater, Jamestown CC, Midland College, and the I-90 AAU travel squad before to joining the University at Buffalo faculty. He assisted many of his athletes in transferring to NCAA Division-I programs during this time.
In 2019, Hodgson became Alabama’s head recruiter under head coach Nate Oats. He was in charge of a 2022 recruiting class that 247Sports ranked third in the country. Jaden Bradley and Brandon Miller were recruited under his direct supervision.
Hodgson was named head coach of the Arkansas State Red Wolves men’s basketball team on March 22, 2023. He guided the program to the 2025 NIT and a CBI appearance in 2024.
